Anzac Memorial Service

Penrith Valley School ANZAC Memorial Service

On Friday 3 May, Penrith Valley School students, staff and families paid their respects to all armed service personnel, past and present, at a memorial service held at school.  In the lead up to the memorial service, students participated in learning about the wars Australia had been involved in, and produced paper poppies to decorate the Walk of Remembrance which lead us into the gallery of memories from WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan and Iraq.

The galleries included memory boxes supplied by the Australian War Memorial showcasing genuine artefacts from WW1 that students and their families could examine, including clothing, helmets and photographs.

A commemorative address was given by Thomas Stuart from Squadron 22 RAAF Richmond. Selected staff and students were involved in Welcome to Country, reading poetry, performing ‘I was only 19” and laying flowers of remembrance. At the conclusion of the service, lunch was served by the Ngala Café team.
